The new iPhone 3G S features were announced today. Unfortunately for them Apple has not persuaded me to buy a fancier version of the iPhone. Neither has the price tag! But, it would be nice to have the new video camera feature. However, I wish they had made the video camera separate from the regular camera and put it on the screen side so you can have a video chat! Oh well, maybe next generation.
The redeeming thing about this launch is, it includes the 3.0 software update which gives you a lot of the new features while still using the regular iPhone 3G. Yay! Looks like they will finally have Parental Controls for the iPhone. I love this!!! Apple finally figured out that my 2 year old is quite capable of using my iPhone and now I can quit worry about him trying to call someone inadvertently while playing his toddler games or watching Sesame Street. My iPhone has been a life saver for much more than calls and email. We have avoided many meltdowns while waiting at the Dr.'s office or at the grocery store simply by having a few educational toddler appropriate games and TV shows available. Since I always carry my iPhone, I always have emergency entertainment, too!
Other neat things that have been asked for repeatedly by 3G users (including myself) are a landscape keyboard option for typing emails and text. Hallelujah! Also has cut, copy, and paste feature which will be nice as well as the ability to send multi media messages. So, thanks Apple for the software update, but I'll hold out for the next generation phone. Back to doing some laundry, which unfortunately, does not require an iPhone. . . Though I suppose I could set a reminder to actually do the laundry, look up a stain chart, and listen to some tunes while sorting the laundry. Ahhhhh.
BTW, the new 3.0 software update is scheduled to be released on June 17th. Let me create a reminder. :) You have to wait until June 19th for the new iPhone 3G S though.
